Born and raised in England, Josephine Hartmann is the author and narrator of this unique workshop on vocabulary. Jo has been a teacher and administrator at all levels, writer, consultant, university instructor, SD Teacher of the Year, SD Administrator of the Year for Curriculum, and recipient of the SD Jefferson Award for Public Service. Hartmann attended Cambridge University and also holds a baccalaureate degree in Secondary Education from Black Hills State University, with majors in English, vocal music, and history; a master’s degree in education specializing in reading and a certification as a K-12 reading specialist with specialist certification in 7-12 reading; and a master’s in educational administration from South Dakota State University. She has received fellowships from the University of Wyoming and Macalester, St. Paul, MN. The experienced educator has conducted education workshops on state, regional, and national levels; and her most recent work is in the areas of classroom management and reading education.
